The Maine Migrant Health Program (MMHP) is pleased to announce the hiring of their new executive director, Lisa Tapert, MPH. Ms. Tapert brings with her 21 years of global public health leadership and senior management experience from both the private and non-profit sectors. She was formerly the Vice President for Global Access Programs at Axios International, a health consultancy where she led a multi-country team providing increased access to chronic disease treatment of disenfranchised populations throughout Asia. She also served as the Director of Eye Health for Helen Keller International, a leading blindness prevention and disease elimination NGO, building a portfolio of community-health activities in multiple African countries. Both board and staff are excited to have Lisa join the organization and believe that the breadth of skills, expertise and leadership that she brings will help reenergize our commitment to farmworker communities and envision the future impact MMHP could make in Maine.
Ms Tapert received her MPH in Maternal and Child Health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and a BA from Oberlin College.
Jonathan Wood, MD a member of the MMHP Board of Directors shared, “We felt that Lisa offered a wealth of experience in a variety of fields that will be critical to MMHP’s continued maturation and growth. Her previous work surrounding marginalized populations worldwide is unique and fascinating. Lisa is going to be a great addition to the MMHP team!”
Lisa will officially start with MMHP on August 18, 2014 and we hope you will join us in welcoming her to our staff!!
