We are a network of doctors, nurses, counselors, community health workers and educators in Maine that work together to provide health care to agriculture and aquaculture workers, seafood processors, and their families.
You can qualify for the program if: you or a family member works in agriculture or seafood processing or your main work has been in this in the last 24 months.
Examples: Planting, picking or packing fruits or vegetables, trees, working on a dairy, egg, oyster, salmon, or kelp farm, or lobster processing factory
Eligibility is only based on employment history. MMHP welcomes people from all communities.
MMHP has a sliding fee scale. Based on your income and family size, you may have to pay for some of your visit on the mobile unit. MMHP will not deny you care if you cannot pay. You must register for the program each year. There is no cost to register as a patient in the program.
Our Community Health Workers can talk to you about different ways to pay for your healthcare including Medicaid (MaineCare), private insurance, and financial assistance at a hospital or health center. They can also help you find resources to assist with the application process. If you do not qualify for any of these programs, MMHP can assist in paying for your appointments, depending on the type of care that you need. Please call your Community Health Worker for more information about our voucher program.
If you need URGENT medical attention, call 9-1-1. If you are having an EMOTIONAL CRISIS and need urgent attention, call 1-888-568-1112. To reach our after-hours nurse line, you can call 1-888-351-9634. For all other purposes, call your Community Health Worker, or our office at 1-888-351-9634.
